BIO
F. D. Raphael has built a career in the music industry through new business development beginning with the David Geffen Company, and for rock band, Aerosmith, as their director of tour marketing and promotion. One of the first female Senior Vice Presidents in the music industry, she helmed traditional, digital, and strategic marketing for Rhino Entertainment, Bertelsmann Music Group (now Sony Music), and Concord Records generating sponsorship and partnership licensing revenues, producing websites, television specials, and infomercials. Tapping into her unique ability to collaborate with quirky personalities, she executive produced the critically acclaimed theatrical release, DeRailroaded: The Wildman Fischer Story. The film, documenting Fischer’s colorful music career, punctuated by paranoia, and manic-depressive schizophrenia, received accolades from international and domestic film festivals, and featured "Weird" Al Yankovic, Rosemary Clooney, Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo), Frank Zappa, and Solomon Burke.
Raphael graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in Honors English/Mass Communication, where she interned for the legendary publisher, William Phillips, of The Partisan Review literary magazine. She attended the Writer’s Program at Bennington College, and later became a staff writer for The Middlesex Daily News in Massachusetts.
In 2011, she received the prestigious California State Parent Teachers Association Honorary Service Award. She was also recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.). Memberships include National Academy Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS); Tourette Association of America (TAA); Rutgers Alumni Club.
Currently, she works with UCLA’s Depression Grand Challenge Advocacy Team. Raphael lives in Los Angeles with her husband and their dogs Foster and Posse 2. She has two grown sons.
